Marqués de Carrión Crianza is a classic Rioja wine with an evolution concept towards the new trends.
It presents a high intensity red garnet, very bright. In the nose it is appreciate balsamic aromas, franks, and subtly spiced, with light oak nuances. In the mouth, it is shown round and distinguished, with a complex balanced between wine and wood, leaving behind a lingering feeling velvety.
Fermenting processThis wine has been elaborated in Marqués de Carrión winery in Labastida with selected grapes of old vineyards located in the best slopes of "La Sonsierra".
The harvest was done in the first half of October, collecting a healthy grapes, whole and in its optimum time of maturity. The fermentation was done in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 30º C, applying an upper-middle maceration process with seeds and skins during 15 days. Then, it was racked to concrete tanks, where it completed its malolactic fermentation, followed by extends resting alternate with rackings, in this way it is realized the natural clarification in a spontaneous way before make the barreling time.
At 20 months old this year went into barrel where it was during 18 months more, alternating with American and French oaks of different ages with rackings every 6 months.
Finally, the wine had a long rest in the bottled cellar where has got its fine bouquet and its total round.
Servicing recommendationsWe recommend serving this Rioja at 16º C. of temperature.
PairingMarqués de Carrión Crianza goes well with small game dishes, meat, cheese, and oily fish.
