Tasting notes

Marqués de Carrión Reserva is a pale ruby red color with tile tones, because of its ages, limpid and crystalline.

In the olfactive phases initially presented tones of reduction. Once the wine is oxygenated denotes a noble fragrance with delicates hints of vanilla, tobacco, wild fruits and reminiscent of oak. In the mouth is harmonious, full and elegant showing a perfect symbiosis between the wine and the oak.

Fermenting process

It is elaborated in our winery in Labastida with selected grapes of the older vineyards in the best slopes in "La Sonsierra". It is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperatures between 28 - 32º C, with numerous pumping and long maceration with the skins 3 weeks. Then, it was racked to a concrete tanks, where it completed the malolactic fermentation, followed with long rest altentning with rackings, so as to undertake a natural clarify as an spontaneous way before make the barreling time.

It goes inside the barrel during 36 months, alterning American and French oaks of different ages with racking every 6 months. Since then it rest in the bottled cellars of our winery of Marqués de Carrión where it has got its total refinement and subtlety, currently showing itself  as an excellent wine with its own personality and an  upper-middle evolution in excellent conditions. 

Servicing recommendations

We recommend serving this Rioja at 18º C. of temperature.

Pairing

Marqués de Carrión Reserva is excellent to accompay game dishes, grilled meats, cheeses and shellfish.
